Privacy Policy
At AnimeDB, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our users. This document describes how AnimeDB handles information when you use the mobile application.
If you have any questions or require more information about this Privacy Policy, please contact us.
Information collection and use
AnimeDB does not directly collect, store, or share personally identifiable information through its own infrastructure. The app does not require account registration and does not ask users to provide personal data such as name, email address, or phone number.
However, AnimeDB integrates third-party services (Google AdMob for advertising, Google Firebase Remote Config for feature flag delivery) that automatically receive technical information when the app runs. See the “Third-party services” and “Advertising” sections below for the specific data types these services collect and the purposes they use them for.
Log files
AnimeDB does not create or manage its own log files that collect personal user data.
However, standard platform services (such as Google Play Services or the operating system) may automatically collect non-personal technical information, including:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Device type and operating system version
- Date and time of app usage
This information is not controlled by AnimeDB and is not linked to any personally identifiable information. It is used only for basic app functionality, stability, and performance.
Advertising
AnimeDB displays advertisements through Google AdMob to keep the app free. Three ad formats are used, all conservatively gated:
- a single banner at the bottom of the Profile screen;
- an interstitial after multiple detail-page views (capped to once every 5 minutes, never within the first 60 seconds of use);
- an app-open ad shown when you return to the app after backgrounding it.
To deliver and measure ads, Google AdMob may collect technical data such as:
- the device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA, where the user has not opted out);
- IP address, coarse location (country / region), and language;
- device model, operating system, and app version;
- basic event signals (ad shown, ad clicked) so advertisers can be billed.
This data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Advertising Privacy & Terms. On iOS, AnimeDB requests permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, only non-personalised ads are served. You can reset your advertising identifier at any time from your device settings.
Ad personalization. AnimeDB uses Google AdMob to show ads. Whether ads are personalised is controlled by the operating system, not by an in-app toggle:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you decline App Tracking Transparency, only non-personalised ads are served.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → “Reset advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”. Non-personalised ads will be served.
A future "Remove ads" in-app purchase will disable advertising entirely.
Third-party services
AnimeDB may use third-party APIs to fetch anime-related data (such as titles, descriptions, or images). These services only receive the minimum required technical information (for example, IP address) to deliver content and do not receive personal user data from AnimeDB.
Google AdMob (Google LLC) — serves in-app ads. Receives the device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA, where the user has not opted out), IP address, approximate location (country / region), and ad-event signals to select and measure ads. Personalization is controlled at the operating-system level (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads). See https://policies.google.com/privacy
Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC) — fetches feature-flag configuration when the app starts. Transmits a Firebase Installation ID (a randomly generated, non-personally-identifiable identifier) and basic device metadata (OS version, app version, country code) to Firebase servers. Does not identify the user. Documentation: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
AnimeDB has no control over how these third-party services handle technical data processed on their end. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of those services if applicable.
Children's information
Protecting children's privacy is important to us.
AnimeDB does not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect personal data at all, there is no risk of intentional data collection from children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through a third-party service used by the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action if applicable.
Online privacy policy only
This Privacy Policy applies only to AnimeDB's online activities and is valid for users of the AnimeDB mobile application. This policy does not apply to any information collected offline or through channels other than this app.
Consent
By using AnimeDB, you hereby consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any updates.
